Kris Aquino: Queen of All Media

Kris AquinoKristina Bernadette Cojuangco Aquino (born February 14, 1971), more popularly known as Kris Aquino, is a Filipino television and movie personality who gained prominence from her talk shows, game shows, and numerous endorsements. Dubbed as the Queen of All Media and Philippines’ Queen of Talk, she is the youngest daughter of former Philippine senator Benigno Aquino, Jr. and Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino, who served as the 11th President of the Philippines, and sister of Benigno Aquino, III, the current President of the Philippines.

In 1986, Kris made her first TV appearance on Inday Badiday’s See-Tru on GMA-7. She was just 14 years old. She eventually starred in her first movie, Pido Dida, Sabay Tayo, which earned her a a Box-office Queen title. Her succeeding films, such as Feng Shui, So… Happy Together, SukobDalaw, and Segunda Mano, also broke box office records. Her latest movie outing, Sisterakas, with Aiai delas Alas and Vice Ganda, is one of the highest grossing Filipino films.

She also became one of the co-hosts of German Moreno’s GMA Supershow and starred in the sitcom Luv Ko Si Kris. In 1994, she hosted the talk show, Kris, on PTV4 which eventually transferred to GMA. As a Kapuso, she co-hosted the showbiz oriented show, Startalk, with Boy Abunda and Lolit Solis.

In 1996, she transferred to ABS-CBN where she became a bigger star, appearing in top rating shows such as The Buzz, Today with Kris Aquino, Game KNB, Morning Girls, Kapamilya Deal or No Deal, Boy & Kris, SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon, and Pilipinas Got Talent. She currently hosts the daily morning show KrisTV and the nightly talk show, Aquino & Abunda Tonight with Boy Abunda on ABS-CBN.

Kris is considered as one of the country’s leading celebrity endorsers, promoting a gamut of products including real estate, personal care products, fast food chains, and other consumer brands.

She is currently single but is rumored to be in a relationship with a politician. Kris is a dotting mother to Josh, her love child with veteran actor Phillip Salvador, and James Jr., AKA Bimby, her son with former husband and cager James Yap.
