John Lloyd Cruz portrays an intellectually-challenged man in ‘The Trial’ (Full Trailer)

Multi-awarded actor John Lloyd Cruz plays an intellectually-challenged man in his upcoming drama film, The Trial. The role is a departure from his usual romantic male lead portrayals in previous blockbuster hits including One More Chance, The Mistress and the A Very Special Love triology. In The Trial, John Lloyd plays Ronald, an elementary student with intellectual development issues who was accused of raping his teacher played by Jessy Mendiola. Also in the cast are Richard Gomez, Gretchen Barretto, Enrique Gil, Sylvia Sanchez and Vivian Velez. Directed by Chito S. Roño, The Trial is part of Star Cinema’s 20th anniversary offerings. It will be shown this October 15 in cinemas nationwide.
