Enrique Gil, born Enrique Mari Bacay Gil on March 30, 1992 in Cebu City, is a fast rising Filipino actor, recording artist and model. He started his showbiz career as a commercial model when he was just 16 years old.
In 2008, Quen, as he is fondly called by fans, was launched as part of ABS-CBN’s Star Magic Circle Batch 16 and eventually cast in small roles in various Kapamilya shows such as Pieta, I Love Betty la Fea, George and Cecil, and Rosalka. He also got his first hosting job in Shoutout! and showcased his dancing skills on ASAP.
His biggest break came when he was offered the role of Michael Miranda in the 2011 remake of Mula Sa Puso. It was followed by another good role in the series Budoy with Gerald Anderson and Jessy Mendiola.
In 2012, Enrique was cast in the teen series, Princess and I, which catapulted him and co-stars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo into stardom. The following year, he starred in the series Muling Buksan Ang Puso opposite Julia Montes and Enchong Dee. He is currently seen in Mirabella where he plays the male lead opposite Julia Barretto’s title character.
Apart from television, Quen also made a slew of films including Till My Heartaches End, Way Back Home, The Reunion, Amorosa, The Strangers, Must Be… Love, and She’s The One.
He also delved into recording and cut his first studio album, titled King of the Gil, in 2013. The 7-track album includes a variety of musical genres including hip hop, R&B, rap, electropop, and dance-pop. It spawned a major concert held at the Araneta Coliseum.
In a short span of time in showbiz, Enrique Gil has already received several awards and recognitions including “Breakthrough Actor of the Year (2013)” and “Most Promising Actor (2012)” from Yahoo! Philippines OMG! Awards and German Moreno Youth Achievement Award from FAMAS in 2012.
