Actress-host Anne Curtis will be a Kapamilya for another two years after renewing her contract with ABS-CBN on Wednesday. As part of her contract, she will continue co-hosting the noontime variety show, It's Showtime, and will star in the highly anticipated television adaptation of the Max Ravelo classic, Dyesebel, which is set to premier this summer.
Present during the contract signing are ABS-CBN executives headed by Chairman Gabby Lopez, President Charo Santos-Concio, Channel Head Cory Vidanes, TV Production Head Laurenti Dyogi, and Business Unit Heads Riley Santiago and Deo Endrinal. Anne's manager, Veronique del Rosario-Corpus of Viva Entertainment, was also there.
Dyesebel will be Anne's eighth Kapamilya TV series after transfering from rival network GMA in 2004. The actress said she is preparing for the iconic mermaid role by taking swimming lessons and dieting to stay in shape.
In a previous interview, Anne said that she was supposed to star in another TV series until management told her that she was chosen to portray the much coveted role of Dyesebel. According to the It's Showtime host, the project landed on her lap after topping a survey.
"Actually iba po talaga ang teleserye na gagawin ko. Naka-set ako this year for something a little bit more mature. Pagbalik ko from Canada, tinawag ako ng management para i-share 'yung news. I think may ginawa daw po silang survey, na kahit hindi daw ako kasali sa survey na 'yun, 'yun pangalan ko daw po ang lumalabas. I guess that’s why management gave it to me," Anne said.
Taping for the series is slated to begin in a few days in Palawan. Joining Anne in the cast are Sam Milby, Gerald Anderson, Ai Ai delas Alas, Dawn Zulueta, Eula Valdez, Andi Eigenmann, Gabby Concepcion, Neil Coleta, Young JV, David Chua, Bangs Garcia, and Ogie Diaz. It will be directed by Don Cuaresma at Francis Pasion.
