Born Angelita Velasquez Aquino on born February 7, 1973, Angel Aquino is one of the Philippines’ most beautiful and talented actresses. She finished Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at the University of the Philippines Baguio City.
Angel started out as a fashion and commercial model before entering show business. She first appeared in the film, Mumbaki, in 1996 and was cast as one of the lead characters in Goodbye America (1997), a film about how the closing of the U.S. naval base at Subic Bay affected the Filipinos and Americans who served there.
In 2000, Angel Aquino starred in Laro Sa Baga, alongside Carlos Morales and Ara Mina, a racy but critically-acclaimed movie directed by Chito Roño. Her performance received nominations for Best Supporting Actress from numerous award-giving bodies.
She was then cast in other movies such as Crying Ladies (2003), with Sharon Cuneta and Hilda Coronel; and A Beautiful Life (2004), a film which follows the lives of different women after their loved ones were killed in a terrorist bombing.
In 2006, Angel starred in Donsol, a critically-acclaimed indie film written and directed by Adolfo Alix, Jr. Angel won the Balanghai Trophy for Best Performance of an Actress from the Cinemalya Independent Film Festival for her potrayal of a newly-widowed breast cancer patient who fell in love with a whale shark (Butanding) guide in Donsol, Sorsogon.
Angel Aquino’s most recent film project was the psychological horror drama, Amorosa with Enrique Gil and Martin del Rosario. She is set to appear in the upcoming Star Cinema action flick, On The Job, with Piolo Pascual, Gerald Anderson and Shaina Magdayao, set for release in the latter part of 2013.
On television, her portrayal as antagonist, Vera Cruz, in Magkaribal (2010) made her a household name. She also dabbled in TV hosting and was one of the hosts of the lifestyle shows F and Us Girls. She also hosted the first season of Interior Motives, a design show on the Lifestyle Network.
In 2013, Angel stared in two teleseryes, Apoy Sa Dagat, alongside Piolo Pascual, Diether Ocampo and Angelica Panganiban, and Honesto, with Raikko Mateo, Paulo Avelino, Cristine Reyes, Janice de Belen, Eddie Garcia and Joel Torre.
She will be seen in the upcoming period drama, Ikaw Lamang, starring Coco Martin and Kim Chiu, which is set to premier in March 10, 2014.
